The little things.

Now I am too pumped that I actually posted; can’t stop now. Here is a small project I did a few months ago. I have been hitting garage sales, thrift stores, etc. in search of items that can be re-purposed into Langley style (whatever that is). So Autumn and I were in this nice higher in thrift store thinking we weren’t going to find anything when we came across this stool.

Before-Thrift Store Stool

What comes to mind when you see this stool? Did the 80′s come flashing through your brain? Did it hurt. Every time I look at this picture I checked myself for shoulder pads. I just picture this next to a black lacquer dresser with mirrored inlays. You get the picture so here is the after:

I was very pleased with the outcome. The bench that I was using for the makeup dresser had gotten broke and I couldn’t find a replacement. We have been re-doing our bedroom in an Asian them (more on that later) and I had this fantastic fabric with dragons on it. I hand sewed and hot glued gold cord that came off an old comforter. It makes me smile every morning which is a great way to start the day, if you have to…

Oh My!

Langley Christmas 2010

Langley Christmas 2010

I can’t believe I haven’t had ANYTHING to say since June 2009? I know, I know you don’t believe it either. I think it is just the opposite, I have had too much to say. In August 2009 we moved across the state and started a huge adjustment period that continues today. I wouldn’t even know or want to back track so we will just move forward.

Autumn faith is almost 13 and Alex is 8 1/2. They are both INCREDIBLY creative and continually drive me to do the same. A year ago Autumn decided she didn’t want to part with some of her favorite clothes that she had outgrown and her book bag line was born. We have started moving forward with designing a company that will sell all sorts of bag on Etsy.com so watch for that exciting celebration. Even Johnte rediscovered his creative side and has designed some incredible bags for men.

Here is the bag that sparked a movement.

Pyro Night Take 2

The Fire

Last night was great. We had the second LPC Smores Night. Our wonderful friends, the Johnsons opened up their home to everyone on Friday night. It is a time of fellowship, play, and food. Of course food… right, what would a gathering be without food. Speaking of food you need to check out the beautiful 3 tier Littlest Pet Shop (LPS) Birthday cake that Kelly made for Autumn. What a good friend. Love ya, Kelly! I was in Key West all week and couldn’t do anything ahead of time so I am blessed that she loves to bake and host.

I have to admit that there is a little pyro in us all. There is something about a camp fire that just draws you to through anything you can get your hands on into it. It is also a time to come together and just get to know our church family better. I feel so comfortable with my LPC family, they are real and honest and I love it.

Painting Day

Filed under: Uncategorized — by a terrific life @ 10:21 pm

Today was a great day! Johnte and I got to spending some quality time getting to know some truly special people. It just reinforces how great this year is going to be. I am so excited to see what God has up His sleeve. Autumn and Alex had such a good time at the painting party. I am so proud of how they behaved. It is already shaping up to be a fantastic year and it is only day 3!!!

January 2, 2009- Hop-Pop’s Birthday

Filed under: Uncategorized — by a terrific life @ 3:18 am

Today would have been my dad’s birthday. Thanksgiving and Christmas were his favorite holidays because it meant family. No matter what was going on the family got together and enjoyed the day together. Ironic that he passed away Thanksgiving 2003.

Years before he passed away he gave up all sugar, alcohol, etc. A couple of years after he passed away we were passing a shopping village that he used to take Autumn to. She started telling Alex how hop-pop used to take her there and they would watch the birds and he would get her an ice cream cone. She then told him about how hop-pop would like the cone so it wouldn’t get all over her. I corrected her and said that she was wrong because hop-pop wouldn’t even eat my wedding cake so he definitely did not lick her ice cream. Sure enough it was their little secret and a wonderful memory to share with her brother who was to young to remember. So in honor of you dad we had a Oreo Turtle Blizzard. We love you and thank God for you…

I feel so blessed that our Heavenly Father gave me such a phenomenal earthly father. It was as if I got a glimpse of what life will be like with my Heavenly Father one day. Amazing…

The 1st day of a fresh year. That is exactly what today is a fresh start. A fresh year to bond with new church family and grow an incredible church. A fresh year to help my beautiful children Autumn Faith (10) and Alex (6) grow more towards who God has made them to be. What a responsibility that is, we are so blessed for that challenge. It is also a new year to grow our business. I am so excited how we can help people in the coming year.
